When you launch a new service, it’s all very well describing it – but it makes it much easier for readers to buy it, if they can see clearly what are they actually going to get as a result. The answer varies with the people who buy it – but broadly speaking, you’ll attract more people if you tell them what they get, rather than what you’re selling. So a photographer can sell family portraits, but what you’re actually getting is a moment in time, captured for you to remember forever.
I’m selling a monthly membership from 1 March, with access to all the business writing knowledge I’ve built up over 20 years – up to now, that’s only been available through my full copywriting service. Sounds great, but what does that actually get you for your business? I could write all day about the magical effect that the right words can have on your business – but for the purpose of this post, I’ll stick to three ways your business writing will improve by joining my membership.
Your Business’s Voice and Brand will get Stronger
It’s not just your logo and colours: the words you use are a huge part of your brand as well, and they’ve got to be consistent whenever and wherever you use them. From your foundation words – the ones that are out there every day, showcasing your business on your website and social media profiles – to your regular posts and newsletters, the words you use must give the consistent message you want them to. This makes your brand message stronger, and all those potential clients out there will begin to recognise what you have to say, and that you can be trusted to deliver the product and service they’re looking for.
We’re starting at the foundations – creating 3 words, 50 words, 100 words to describe you business the way you want. With these at the heart of how you talk about your business, you can be confident that you’re using the best words you can to attract the people you most want to work with – and that those words can be adapted to any situation where they’re needed, from the words on your website to your 60 second networking pitches.
You’ll have great content and more time too
With so much to put out there every month, the huge amount of planning, writing and posting required can feel overwhelming. But get a robust plan in place, and you can streamline everything – do one piece of writing, and then cut snippets, recycle and repurpose to fulfil the lots of your social media and newsletter content that month. Much less time taken up with writing and coming up with ideas – and your communications will come across as planned, polished and highly professional.
More readers will do what you want them to
When you write, you want your readers do something as a result – that could be as small as following your Facebook page, or as big as becoming your next top buyer. As part of my membership, you’ll learn how to focus on that outcome, and how to write with that outcome in mind. So whether it’s buying a product, signing up to a newsletter, or giving you that prestigious business award, your words will be working their hardest to get your readers to do what you want them to do.
A monthly Online Masterclass on business writing with live Q&A – a monthly online Writing Room – a library of writing guides and checklists on my website – and a VIP support group for focused feedback and accountability when you need it. Membership starts from 1 March – and you can get on the mailing list to join right here: https://rlcwords.co.uk/rlc-words-membership/
